  • Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, Kiat started to explore more resourceful, innovative ways of creating art due to the lockdowns and limited access to material. This has led to him creating work using a hybrid technique of digital and analogue mediums—inspired by the same approach with which he would resample material to make music.

Kiat’s approach to art and music encompasses a process-based methodology where his personal application of the 'resampling’ technique and utilisation of both the analogue and digital mediums become structural throughways into his final compositions. Raw samples of colour and texture typically serve as the creative impetus of his work followed by a continual artistic recalibration and reworking of these elements as the work develops. Kiat’s interest lies in capturing the unseen spirit of the image upon a blank canvas through an abstract dialogue between his selected mediums.

The adventurous themes in his work are closely linked to the artist’s fascination with emotions and freedom. His freeform creative approaches have led him to develop work across multiple mediums—from painting on walls and canvases, to music for dance floors, theatrical stages and art installations, to works that blur the line between fine art and design for brands and cultural institutions.

Kiat has developed work internationally and locally for Cake Theatre, The Peranakan Museum, Swarovski, ArtScience Museum, Dazed Online, Adidas, Dior, Selfridges, Singapore Tourism Board, Nike, Beams, SHOWstudio, as well as BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra.

  • KRINGE is a graffiti artist from Singapore. He has been active since 2014 and his primary style is letter-based or typographic writing. He views his work as a form of urban calligraphy that is a cumulation of his personal history, perspectives and experiences—a journal that allows him to contextualise his practice that serves to connect him with the global graffiti phenomena. His work has been exhibited at 8Q at SAM, Singapore Art Museum in 2018. He was also a feature writer for VICE.

“Every piece to me is a puzzle of abstract lines and forms waiting to be solved. The end result is unpredictable, and that prospect is both intimidating and exciting. The letters are the only constant in a journey of endless possibilities, and the flow and energy of each wall often reflects my state of mind. There are many ideas within graffiti, but for me it is the freedom to be yourself and to paint what represents that best”

  • Born in 1974 in Armenia, Columbia, Didier “Jaba” Mathieu moved to Liege, Belgium to further his studies in Illustration at Institut Saint-Luc, Brussels. Widely known by his moniker “Jaba”, the artist has painted murals around the world for more than 25 years. He has exhibited widely in art galleries around Europe and South America before relocating to Singapore to join Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), a division of Lucasfilm Ltd where he worked as a concept artist and digi-matte painter on feature films such as Transformers, Iron Man and Star Trek. Jaba lectured at Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore, focusing on Matte Painting, Environment, and Character Design from 2010 to 2013. He published ENEMIES, a graphic novel released in 2015 with Ankama Editions France and gave a TED Talk, titled ‘A city without graffiti is a city without soul’ in 2016. Jaba is a 2018 graduate of LASALLE with a MA in Fine Arts.

Futurism, alphabetic constructivism, and facial cubism constitute some of the prominent ideas in Jaba’s work. He continues to practise on multidisciplinary projects and participate in countless graffiti performances all over Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia

  • This is the ‘psyberpunk’ trio unit of Taketo Kobayashi (A.K.A. humanoise), Race Krehel (A.K.A. SuperCyberTown) and Benedict Teo (F.K.A. Zushan). Highly informed by otaku culture, Metamo’s work merges the mystical and spiritual worlds within a technological realm. Using technology to make constant, real-time adjustments to the artistic outcome is a process that Metamo explores and develops repeatedly, distilling the artistic process to what they believe is a more potent spirit. The result is a dynamic audio-visual experiences that will surprise the viewer and challenge traditional notions of ‘art’.

Past exhibitions include a virtual “altar-booth” for the digital edition of Culture Cartel (2020), an interactive AR experience for Singapore Art Week (2021) and their very own debut exhibition in 2021 where they explored alternative ways to connect virtual and real worlds with digital technologies such as 3D printing, 2D digital printing, immersive environment and projections resulting in an array of ‘psyberpunk’ digital prints and 3D printed toys.

Metamo is futuristic, sci-fi inspired and mythical.

  • The work of Delphine Rama is in constant evolution, as the boundaries of her practice are continuously pushed with experimentation. Each canvas is a testimony to our current times and humanistic expression. Every geometric shape, and choice of colour is an interpretation of our society. The titles are often winks to the audience. It is meant for those who question their journeys.

Beyond the emotional narratives, Rama’s work is visually striking. The composition and choice of colours is extremely researched and premeditated on. Warm or cool colours tussle in a harmonious display to provide the audience with a sense of visual equilibrium. Her shapes strive to attain perfect geometrical lines, yet upon a closer look, one can see the irregularities of the medium. This provides a sense of tactile materiality to her paintings. The geometrical forms inspired by her love of architecture remain, but one can feel a shift towards a more unconventional, liberated expression as the artist sheds preconceived ideals and makes up new rules in an exploration of the self.

Delphine Rama was born in Liege, Belgium in 1988. She now lives and works in Singapore. After studying architecture, she obtained a Fine Arts degree from the Académie Royale des Beaux Arts, Brussels. Her work has been exhibited internationally in several group exhibitions and biennales.
